1. Future is uncertain
The environment is continuously Changing in the continuously Changing environment it is almost impossible predict the change so the planning and strategy formulation has become extremely difficult so it does not mean to make strategy if it is not certain.
2. Time consuming
Strategic management is done by the high level Managers and their time is extremely important for high level Managers of any organisation. So they have to spend their substantial time in formulation of strategy. The time required for in planning may cost organisation because it consumes time of most important people of organisation.
3. Expensive
The management who make this plan required lots of skill sand experience and these managers are having salaries of millions of dollars and they have to spend substantial time in formulation of strategy so the strategic management is very expensive process. If organisation does not have the competant managers to formulate the strategies they can make this work done by the consultants which charges lots of money.
4. Required long term view
It is very long term and complex process manager who is forming strategy must have the long term view of strategy and the environment is very much uncertain and it is quite possible that no one manager is able to consider all the factors impacting your organization. So no manager is able to make the perfect strategy..
5. Reduce flexibility
Managers have to worked on the planned strategy and does not support the new plans and follow the strategy religiously so they don't welcome new suggestions of the organization's employees. So such strategic management process reduce the innovation.
6. Only involves few people
Strategic management is the process involve only higher management people while it affects the people of whole organisation. It is traditional process and does not involve any suggestions from the junior level or subordinate who are more near to the consumer. To improve strategic management process the involvement of the lower level Managers is significant.
