7. C. Diabetes mellitus

The most common endocrine disease observed in the elderly is diabetes mellitus. Gaining more weight with the increase of age in elderly , increases the risk of Diabetesmellitus.

8. d. Glomerular filtration

In elderly, the impairment in functions of kidney may increase the chance of digoxin toxicity. Half life of digoxin can be longer in the patient with decreased glomerular filtration, this inturn may results in increased concentration of digitalis in the blood and digoxin toxicity.

9. d. Production of vaginal secretion decreases

Many changes happens in a woman's reproductive system in old age especially after menopause. Because of the decreased hormonal production ( estrogen) vaginal wall become dry as the vaginal secretions gets scanty. Atrophy of glands around labia majora and minora and surrounding the vaginal wall occurs.

Centers for Disease control and prevention recommends that an elderly should receive the vaccines of influenza (on an annual basis),  tetanus, pneumoniae and hepatitis B.

For senior persons, it is recommended that they should visit their dentist at least once in a year( once in six months is more prefered).elderly people with dentures should visit the dentist for the evaluation of dentures .

A nurse can create an empathetic environment in a therapeutic communication by using confrontational response. It should be used only after establishing professional relationship with the client. Confrontation helps the client for self understanding and awareness about the inconsistency in his interest and emotions. Through confrontational response, nurse can point out the client's discrepancy in thinking and attitude, with an empathetic approach.
