In the present scenario,

Ms Anna Mae Alcott, a 67-year-old black female is admitted in the hospital for the diagnosis of secondary to embolism on the side of the brain and also have the history of diabetes mellitus and she is frustrated.

Stroke is a disease that affects the arteries leading to and within the brain

A stroke occurs when there is not enough oxygen getting to the brain (usually caused by a clot or fat) or when a blood vessel bursts.

Here in the present scenario, she is suffered from Ischemic stroke:

  • occurs as a result of an obstruction of blood flow to the brain due to embolus on the right side of the brain

Etiology:

An embolism blocks blood flow to an area of the brain.

Signs and symptoms:

Sudden confusion, trouble, trouble speaking/understanding

Hyperglycemia

Sudden trouble walking, dizziness

Diagnostic testing:

CT scan

MRI

Echocardiogram

Carotid Duplex

Assessment: FAST(Face, Arms, Speech and time)

Treatment:

Along with the treatment of stroke, she is receiving insulin therapy for type II diabetes

*Risk for :

She is at risk for Psychological aspects of stroke:

Depression

Isolation

Loss of independence
