Your last interview is with the CEO, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives who is respected by her peers. She says she thinks the HCO has not developed leadership skills in its nursing group and asks, “How would you deal with this?” (Her question is deliberately vague; part of your answer must be to identify what programs are important, and part of it must be explaining what measures will indicate improvement.)

She likes your answer; she hints that you are the preferred candidate. Then she asks, “What are your questions?” You've decided you want the job; do you raise any issues about the CNO, the problems the CNO raised, or other possible OFIs you may have observed?

Leadership is defined as a multifaceted process, which at an initial stage identifies a goal or target, then other people in the team gets motivated, provides support and motivates to achieve the targeted goals. To maintain a leadership skills in nursing field, is difficult and it always rely on leadership skills. Decision making, handling conflicts and acting with integrity are some of the leadership skills must be followed among nursing staff with the effective development of other team members.

A program which can be suggested for leadership development in nursing field is "NURSING LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM". It is a evidence based program for nurses to increase their knowledge in leadership skills and competency in all duties and responsibilities.

Suggested measure includes,

a) Effective communication skills- A rapport must be built within the staff members as well as patients to create cohesiveness.

b) Advocacy in patient safety and access to quality healthcare.

c) Prioritizing patient care rather than the success of their competent.

d) All staff members should work together and build culture based on the patient care.
