Answer #1

ANSWER.

27) 15.8 kg to lbs.

               1 kg = 2.205 lbs

         So

            15.8 kg = 15.8 * 2.205

                     = 34.84 lbs.

28) Calculation of amount(ml) of drug required.

Formula = Desired dose /Dose in hand * Quantity.

     Here

         Desired dose (D) = 75 mg.

         Dose in hand (H) = 25 mg.

             Quantity (Q) = 5 ml.

    As per above formula

       Amount of drug required = D/H * Q

                                               = 75/25 * 5

                                               = 3 * 5

                                               = 15 ml.

29) Calculation of amount of drug wasted.

Amount of drug wasted = Amount of drug available - Amount of drug used.

            Amount of drug used

Formula = Desired dose/ Dose in hand * Quantity.

                   Here

                        Desired dose(D) = 35 mg.

                        Dose in hand (H) = 50 mg.

                             Quantity (Q) = 1 ml.

           As per fromula

                Amount of drug used = D/H * Q

                                                   = 35/50 * 1

                                                    = 0.7 ml.

Amount of drug available = 1 ml.

     So

Amount of drug wasted = 1 ml - 0.7 ml.

                                                  = 0.3 ml.

30) Calculation of time will the infusion end.

              Formula

                 Flow rate (ml/hr) = Total volume(ml) / Time (hr)

                  Time (hr) = Total volume(ml) / Flow rate (ml/hr)

              Here

                  Total volume(ml) = 500 ml.

                   Flow rate(ml/hr) = 25 ml/hr.

         As per formula

                 Time (hr) = 500 / 25

                                 = 20 hrs.

IV infusion starting time = 12 pm.

    So

Time will the transfusion end = 12 pm + 20 hrs.

                                                      = 8 am.

31) Calculation of rate of IV infusion.

              Formula

                   Rate (ml/hr) = Volume(ml) /Time(hr).

        Calculation of Volume (ml) required.

Formula = Desired dose /Dose in hand * Quantity.

            Here

                  Desired dose = 500 units/hr.

Dose in hand = 25000 units

                        Quantity = 250 ml.

    As per formula

        Volume(ml) required = 500 / 25000 * 250

                                          = 0.02 * 250

                                          = 5 ml.

                   Time(hr) = 1 hr.

         So

                 Rate = 5ml/hr.
