Answer #1

ANSWER.

21) Calculation of rate of flow(ml/hr).

       Formula

            Flow rate = Volume (ml) / Time(min) * Drop factor(gtts/min)

      Here

        Volume = 500 ml.

         Time = 8 hr.(480 min)

       Drop factor = 60 gtts/ml.

As per formula

      Flow rate = 500/480 * 60

                      = 1.041 * 60

                      = 62.5 ml/hr.

22) Amount (ml) required to administer 300000 units of medication.

            Formula = Desired dose /Dose in hand * Quantity.

       Here

           Desired dose (D) = 300000 units.

           Dose in hand (H) = 1000000 units.

               Quantity (Q) = 3 ml.

    As per formula

      Amount(ml) required to administer = D/H * Q

                                                               = 300000 / 1000000 * 3

                                                               = 0.3 * 3

                                                               = 0.9 ml.

23) ml/hr set the IV pump to run the medication.

            Formula = Volume(ml) / Time(hr)

       Here

           Volume(ml) = 100 ml.

             Time(hr) = 2 hr.

As per above formula

              ml/hr = 100/ 2

                       = 50 ml/hr.

24) Amount (Teaspoon) of drug required to administer.

            Formula = Desired dose(D) / Dose in hand * Quantity(Q)

        Here

            Desired dose (D) = 400 mg.

            Dose in hand (H) = 250 mg.

                 Quantity (Q) = 6.25 ml.

    As per above formula

         Amount (Teaspoon) of drug required = D/H * Q

                                                                     = 400 / 250 * 6.25

                                                                     = 1.6 * 6.25

                                                                     = 10 ml.

                                 1 Teaspoon = 5 ml.

               So

                   Teaspoon of drug required = 10 / 5

                                                              = 2 teaspoon.
