A semi-structured interview is a meeting in which the interviewer does not strictly follow a formalized list of questions. They will ask more open-ended questions, allowing for a discussion with the interviewee rather than a straightforward question and answer format. A semi-structured interview is a type of interview in which the interviewer asks only a few predetermined questions while the rest of the questions are not planned in advance.
Unstructured questions are a bit more qualitative in feel. They do not require pre-defined categories and they allow the respondent to express their views openly. Open-ended questions, as they are also known, produce a higher cognitive load in the sense that the respondent has to think harder to come to an answer.
Structured Interview is one in which a particular set of predetermined questions are prepared by the interviewer in advance. Unstructured Interview refers to an interview in which the questions to be asked to the respondents are not set in advance.
