Answer #1

Ans) ARB: Alternative to ACE inhibitors without the cough side effect. They are helpful in patients with heart failure and diabetes.

- Angiotensin Receptor blockers (ARB's) block the effects of a hormone called Angiotension II in body.

- When Angiotensin II enters the blood, blood vessels becomes narrow.

- This give blood less space to move in, which raises blood pressure. It also triggers the hormone which retains body water which will also cause rise in blood pressure.

- ARB's act by blocking the action of Angiotensin II. This allows blood vessels widen and relax, making blood to flow easily. It also helps to reduce water retension and thus lowers blood pressure.
