Answer #1

1.Given:

Medication :Magnesium sulphate

Dose:4gm bolus

Time :30 minutes

Available :40g/1000ml

When 40g=1000ml

Then 4gm=??

Cross multiply and divide

=1000×4÷40

=100ml

4gm =100ml to be transfused in 30 minutes so for 1 hour the quantity will be double i.e.,200ml

Ans:200ml/hr

2.Given

Medication :Oxytocin

Dose:7milliunits in 1 minute

Route:IV

Available :20units in1000ml

As 1 minute =7 milliunit

Then 60 minute (1 hour)=??

Cross multiply and divide

=420 milliunit (7×60÷1)

1 unit=1000 milliunit

So 20 unit=??

=20000 milli unit (1000×20÷1) per ml

So 420 milli unit=??

=0.02ml

Ans :0.02 ml/hr

3.Given

Weight :6.6 kg

Dose 40mg/kg

Therefore 6.6kg=??

=264mg (6.6×40)

Available :160mg/5ml

Therefore 264mg =??

=8.25 (264×5÷160)

Ans:8.25ml

4.Given

Medication :Pitocin

Dose:0.5mu/min

So 60 min=??

30mu /hr

Available :10u=1000ml (10u=10000mu)

so 30mu=??

=0.3 (1000×30÷10000)

Ans:0.3ml/hr
