Preventive medicine can be described as primary, secondary and
tertiary medicine. it is based on communoty program, It is focused
on an environmental, economic, social, behavioral and cultural
structure that causes illness risk. It can be prevented by primary,
secondary, tertiary medicine.
Primary prevention:
Primary prevention for public health to change their lifestyle
factors like childhood obesity prevention, childhood vaccination,
practicing well-balanced diet, safety school practice,
environmental hygiene, Women STD prevention, obesity, prevention,
physical activity for avoiding high blood pressure, diabetes and
chronic illness.
Secondary prevention:
Early screening to identify the disease before the onset of signs
and symptoms for women, mammography, pap smear test for avoiding
cancer and regular blood pressure testing, maternal test to prevent
preterm risk, malnutrition, regular prenatal care, infertility
counseling, and diagnosis.
Tertiary prevention:
Managing the disease progression to prevent further complications
by rehabilitation and screening.
Risk factors associated with prevention programs that impact the
care for women and children are racial and ethnic disparities,
low-income background, poor education, unemployment, lack of social
support, inadequate resources to meet people needs, lack of health
insurance coverage, large family structure.
