Work role boundaries are the professional boundaries a nurse has to maintain while taking care of patients .Nursing is a profession which involves nurse spending maximum time with the patients and in a very close proximity she uses her skills and knowledge to provide a emphathetic and therapeutic environment a nurse is aware of many confidential I formation of a client which all makes a nurse prone to cross professional boundaries .few signs a nurse any be crossing professional boundaries could be by spending too much of time attending to a patient.providing extra care and concern to a particular patient,having a secret relationship like calling on phone off duty,communicating in sexual languages .,not sharing patients condition to the colleagues these are the few signs which shows that a nurse has crossed professional boundaries
How to prevent it .
Knowing that nurses are prone for it especially a novice nurse who is new to the profession is more prone due to innocence or patient compulsion it is the administrator duty to conduct training on professional boundaries for induction,having preceptors for a novice nurse will help a novice nurse to deal with patients who are more friendly. regular observation or supervision and timely correction by a senior personnel will prevent nurses crossing professional boundaries which leads to adverse effects .
