Janeen uses the Exchange Lists for Meal Planning and manages her own shopping and cooking. Her diet is approximately 1800 kcal which satisfies her appetite and maintains her weight. She eats a wide variety of foods. Janeen has recently changed her insulin schedule and needs help in planning an 1800 kcal diet, approximately 50% carbohydrate (CHO) with the CHO distributed equally in 3 meals, plus a bedtime snack containing less CHO.

  1. Janeen’s new insulin regimen include 12 units of glargine insulin at bedtime, and 12 units of lispro to cover her carbohydrate intake (ICR 1:17.5) plus correction insulin as per sliding scale.
