In your experience, what are some of the barriers to the successful implementation of a project? Provide an example (avoid identifying anyone or any organization).

There are several barriers those are applicable to the successful implementation of a project, those are as stated below:

  • One of the important barriers like lack of clarity with project objectives, goals, and alignment with the strategic objective of business organization, further, team members might not be on the same page and lose their awareness towards the important details of the project due to lack of clarity and transparence,
  • Project could face issues with defining their requirements, as project needs to agree on what required by customers, however, issues with requirement gathering and scope development could become barrier to the successful implementation of a project.
  • Project could have several important barriers like resource availability, here, Resource could include physical resources and human resources, as resources are highly necessary and so called in correct quantity with all necessities to the successful implementation of a project.
  • Facing too many conflicts and conflicts are not carefully managed, issues with communication, like expansion of virtual teams but limited technological set up in place, limited availability of communication channel, other communication barriers, etc.
  • Project could face barrier with stakeholder engagement, issues may come up with resistance to change, technological gaps, poor organizational culture, lack of diversity, etc.
  • There could be external influences and all these can act as barriers to the successful implementation of a project, such external issues could include political barriers, economic issues, legal and compliances pressure, etc.

Example: Organization XYZ has on a way to implement one construction project, however, they have not still recruited their resources or team members as needed for such project, due to lack of necessary skills and expertise, organization will be delaying such project and it will create several impacts on the health of organization followed by complaints from clients. Here, such unavailability of resource could be taken as barrier to the successful implementation of a project.
