Strategy implementation is always difficult. Many organizations never successfully implement their strategies. What are some of the blocks to successfully implementing a strategy. Please provide an example of an organization that was not successful in implementing a new strategy.

Some of the important blocks to successful implementaion of strategy are as follows:

1) Change Management: It is important to have the buy in from all the stakeholders. If the buy is not there then change management will never be successful which is key to any strategy implementation. Change management takes care of all the training, resources preparation that comes with the strategy implementation to change an organization.

2) Resources: Resources identification whether they are technical or human resources skills wise which are aligned and need to execute the strategy is imperative and important.

The famous example is Xerox. Xerox in 1970s was the first to develop personal computer. However, due to poor execution of change management which led to poor buy in from stakeholders who believed that this would lead to their product cannibalization, Xerox never released the computer. Rest as they is history, Apple and IBM took the lead and got away in race.
