If you were working with a client who was considered obese (through body composition assessments), and this individual’s primary goals were to lose weight and increase aerobic capacity, would you use absolute or relative VO₂max for pre and post measurements of aerobic capacity? Please explain your answer. (When answering this question, keep in mind whether or not absolute or relative VO2max takes into account body weight and how this could affect results).

Vo2max is the measurement of the oxygen consumption during a strenuous exercise.It is used to assess the respiratory fitness and physical endurance.

Vo2max formula is =cardiac output*atriovenous oxygen difference.

So Vo2max is not dependent on the body mass or body composition.so for a client who wants to loose weight by increasing the aerobic exercises will be difficult to assess the difference using Vo2max relative or obsulute.because here the client is looking at increasing the aerobic capacity to reduce weight he doesn't want to check the physical fitness by increasing the aerobic capacity.

So Vo2max is not dependent on the body composition and cannot be used to measure the pre and post of a weight loss regime .
