Needle stick injury is one of the accident encountered by all medical staff in case of negligence.The role of a manager in case of a needle stick injury will be same for all the medical and non medical staff.When there is a NSI the following steps has to be taken

• The injured or the victim has to wash the site in running water using soap (Do not squeeze the injured site)
• The victim has to approach for medical help for getting post exposure prophylaxis
• It has to be reported to the Infection control nurse or team
• The manager has to investigate on the date ,time,co-factors like stress,work load,skills ,where and how the stick happened ( while providing care or has done any recapping of the needle)investigate on the place (patiwnt side or during other medical side
• Making sure proper follow up care is done
• Documentation
• Arranging for training sessions on periodic basis
• Creating awareness in the areas like laboratories etc.,
