Healthy People 2020 aimed to reduce the incidence of unintentional injuries and to reduce the consequences as a part of it. Most of the accidents that occur as a part of unintentional injuries and as a part of violence. HEALTHY People 2020 put forward a broad range of objectives to reduce the same.

It put forward the following objectives:-

1. Reduce homicides: HP2020 put forward the agenda to reduce violence and the chance of someone to kill by preventing substance abuse, decreasing alcohol consumption and limiting its sale. They also aimed to work through and through with community to help in spreading the awareness of prevention of injury; maltreatment and homicide.^[1]

2. Reduce fire-arm and non firearm related deaths:- It aimed to reduce firearm related deaths by improving the work condition and equipping the workers with safety tools and gears.

3. Reduce non fatal physical assault injuries: Physical assault injuries that are non fatal include sprains; lacerations; cut injuries; contusions; fractures and punctures. They are generally caused by someone striking other with fist ; blunt and heavy weapon or sharp weapon. They can be reduced by decreasing alcohol and substance abuse as discussed earlier and by educating people and providing employment to individuals.^[2]

4. Reduce physical fighting and bullying among adolescents: They aimed to improve parenting skills and give proper care to individuals to help stop fighting and bullying among adolescents. They should put forward therapy of physical exercise; education and meditation to relief the injuries related to fighting and bullying.^[3]

5. Reduce weapon carrying among adolescents; To enforce strict laws and checking in the school and colleges regarding the things students are carrying. Important is proper parenting of their children in this period.

6. Reduce fatal and non fatal child maltreatment: Child maltreatment reduction in aimed by working hand on hand with community service providers and people to spread awareness among individuals to prevent child maltreatment^{. [3]}

7. Reduce non fatal intentional self harm injuries: The injuries that lead to self harm include the injury due to infliction that can cause suicide; laceration. Promoting education; employment and making people live happy and healthy life lead to the decrease in its rate.

8. Reduce child exposure to violence : It can be prevented by promoting early childhood home visitation. This will help to reduce the reduce the violence and the child will be under a protected umbrella with promotion of good moral values among them^.[4]

9. Increase the data by linking data on violent deaths from death certificates and locals on all levels: This would help us to enumerate the causes of death and progress of the mission after enforcement of the programs^{. [3]}
