Nonverbal Cues

In any interaction, a significant part of communication is nonverbal and includes individual interpretation of nonverbal cues. Examine each of the following photographs and summarize your assumptions about each person in the photograph. Who is each person? What is he or she feeling? What might be happening between the two people in the photograph? What is the location pictured in the photograph? Distinguish between assumptions that you are sure of and those you would need more information to confirm.

1st picture- Looks like a conversation between a Registered Nurse and patient's relative. The relative looks angry. Maybe something was not done on time like when they pressed the bell, the nurse might have failed to attend the patient on time. The nurse looks calm and patient. Location looks outside patient's room. Some people make that expression when they are very much worried. But her eyes and eyebrows looks like she is more angry

2nd picture- Again a conversation between the registered Nurse and the patient's relative. Looks like the RN said something vague or might have backanswered the relative. So she is looking at him in a strange way. Looks like again they are standing outside patient's room. It could also be that the relative is very angry because this the time the RN completely went off the limits

Picture 3- Looks like a conversation between the receptionist and a physician. She stood up as soon as the physician came and started talking to her. Maybe regarding his OPD patients, timings etc. The location is the hospital reception. It could also be a nurse and the physician or the receptionist and a Client.

Picture 4- Looks like a registered nurse holding an infant and playing with it. The baby looks like was getting discharged. So the RN who took care of it is playing with her for one last time. His expression looks like he is going to miss that baby.Location is definitely somewhere near the nurses station. The baby does not have an IV line or is not in hospital uniform.So, It could also be that a relative's baby was crying, and the RN thought of playing with it.
