Scenario: ms. X (me) and ms. Y ( colleague) having therapeutic communication related y is having depression for her recent break up.  

x: hi y . Good morning . How are you ?

Y: I am ok . Just having bad time.

X: I have noticed you are looking dull today you . So tell me what happened ? (Waiting for Y to answer) principle: giving recocnitire and using silence)

Y: I recently had a break up ( weeping)

X: oh I see . Dont cry Y (holding hand) . Don't think yourself alone. I am always there for you for your support. Principle: active listing and offering self.

Y: Its too much painful. I am not avle to concentrate in my job.

X: I can understand . It must be very tough for you.

Principle: accepting.

Can you tell me what you people broke up? ( Giving broad opening)

Y: I don't know how to tell. Jack ( boyfriend) was having affair with his boss.

X: I see. So you mean Jack was cheating on you . Principle : restating and voicing doubt.

Y: Yes. The other day I read his messages which he did to his boss . They was planning to meet at her firm house at the weekend alone. I completely lost my mind after reading this and just decided to end everything.

X: oh. Lord. When you did it happened? (Principle Placing the event in time )

Y: 3 days back (weeping still)

X: so how you feel about the incident? (Encouraging description of perception)

Y: I don't know . I feel debasdevas . I am in pain . Sometimes I feel extremely pain that I dont wish to live.

X: so you mean you are having suicidal thoughts due to your recent break up with your boyfriend. Does it sounding correct? ( principle: Summarizing)

Y: yeah.

X: ok. Do you think is it better that you came to know about jack and his affair rather than getting cheated for a longer time? ( Principle: encouraging comparison)

Y: ofcourse better. I am very thankful to god for this. But I dobt know how to cope with the loss. I feel very lonely.

X: thats good to hear. Y do you trust me?

Y: yes . But why?

X: because I dont agree that its y. I your loss. ItsIhis loss. He had lost a beautiful loyal extremely loving girlfriend . (Principle: confronting) and I am very glad that you have mad a brave choice and choose to deal with the situation. I was thinking that since now you are single again shall we celebrate it with drinks and music tonight at my place . I will make arrangements for some handsome boys too so you can look for the next . ( Loughing togather) (principle: offering hope and humor)
