Answer: Perception affects ones communication encounters in healthcare as when things are not clearly defined or the other person interprets in their own way misunderstanding occurs. This causes gap of communication and hence the results gets varied. The three stages of perception includes

• selection
• organization
• interpretation

The misconception occurs due to the selection of the stimulus when choose for interpretation. The cultural differences also causes barrier in the communication due to language problem etc. This causes low delivery of the care to the pateints.

We can improve our accuracy in perception as by creating positive attitude, engaging in knowing ourselves as well as empathy towards the other people.

The specific strategies that can be employed to prepare and engage in the interaction as there should be effective communication. The effective communication includes direct and straight forward conversation which should be short and simple. It should not contain any bias words etc. Eye contact should be made to provide positive attitude.
