Answer #1

Solution:

Probability of a movie being good = 13/24

We are required to find the probability that the film was good, given that the trailer released is good. This can be done using Bayesian rule:

P(good film|released good trailer) = [P(released good trailer|good film)*P(good film)]/[P(released good trailer|good film)*P(good film) + P(released good trailer|bad film)*P(bad film)]

P(good film|released good trailer) = [67.3%*13/24]/[67.3%*13/24 + 29.2%*(1 - 13/24)]

P(good film|released good trailer) = [8.749/24]/[8.749/24 + 3.212/24]

P(good film|released good trailer) = 8.749/11.961 = 0.7315 or 73.15% (approximately).

Historically, 77.2% of good films have a good trailer and 26.9% of bad films have a good trailer. The new film releases a good trailer. What is the probability that the film is good now?

Question-2 Academic Toys has developed a brand new product line—a series of Business Professor Action Figures (BPAFs) featuring likenesses of popular professors at the local business school. Based on past experience, new action figures either take off and do well or fail miserably. Hence, the prediction is for...
