Stoma refers to an opening in the body which can be natural(nostril,oral cavity,ears) or artificial (ventilation tracheal tube insertion,colostomy)

Presence of tracheostomy tube can be easier to ventilate patient in emergency situation who has a stoma. If the patient doesn't have it then a infant or a child BVM (badly valve mask) can be used. Special equipment are not needed but a special tracheostomy mask is needed to ventilate these type of patients.

In case of medication administration ,the tracheostomy mask can be used to deliver medicine through the stoma
