I am working on prescriptions for my pharmacology class. Dr. Thomas wants Mr. Smith to have thiazide 25 mg, 1-2 tablets orally once a day as needed for edema. He is only to have enough for a 2 week supply. Fill in the Sig portion of the prescription using medical abbreviations. How would I write this Sig using medical abbreviations.

Answer: Medical abbreviations are being used to mention the time as well as dosage form that need to be taken. There are many abbreviations used. The abbreviation for taking tablet once a day will be (q.d.) it means quaque die in latin, qd standas for taking medication once in a day.

As mentioned above,

1-2 tablets q. d. Orally.
