Answer #1

Persons suffer from poverty each day right here in the U.S. Lacking funds & basic necessities like shelter, food, clothes, education & medical care. Not all have access to luxury. While Serving in Florida, Ehrenreich goes undercover as a waitress & a housekeeper , & lives the life of a low socio-economic category. She discovers that its not financially possible to live off merely a minimum wage.

One day whilst wrapping silverware, Gail tells Ehrenreich that she’s contemplating of taking a room at the Days Inn for $60 per day, & Barbara asks her as to why she doesn’t take an apartment. The issue is that Gail cannot afford the 2 month’s down payment in rental it would take for an apartment. This is one of the realities of the low-wage world. There’re unplanned expenditures which can decimate an individual's finances.
At several establishments, personnel have to provide for parts of their uniforms such as shoes & pants. These expenditures are a hardship for the low-wage labor. Additionally, several workers don’t get regular medical care as they have to wait for a proposal to kick in. Prescriptions sometimes do not get filled as the medicine is too costly. More severe expenditures could comprise of ,for instance, a dental surgery.
Barbara, with the funds she gets at the Hearthside, simply can’t pay her rental, so she decides to take another job. The author tries to do work in housekeeping but since she’s a white, local English speaker she’s stereotyped as a waitress. She gets an employment at a restaurant . The client volume is a lot greater, & the rate is intense. There’s no break room as there’s no time for taking any breaks. Huge waves of persons come in the restaurant & keep up to 6 waitresses moving at high speed. Several new waitresses do not last more than one day.

In ‘On Dumpster Diving’, Eighner explains his life on the street & the wonderful art of Dumpster Diving, which is diving in the scarpyard to look for articles. He focuses on reminding those who’re careless about their stuffs that actually it still can be rather useful to others, specially the homeless. Both the authors allure their readers by explaining the lifestyle of the destitute & how they are unnoticed by the middle class
