1. Which action by a skeletal muscle relaxant is the major mechanism of action?

Reducing motor nerve impulse transmission to the skeletal muscles.

Inhibiting glucose uptake in skeletal muscles.

Binding to opioid and serotonin receptors in the brain to induce sleep.

Dilating blood vessels in skeletal muscles and reducing the need for contraction.

2.

In what way do uric acid synthesis inhibitors reduce gout symptoms?

Group of answer choices

Increasing the amount of enzymes that enhance urinary excretion of uric acid

Suppressing the conversion of purines into uric acid crystals

Suppressing the reabsorption of sodium and calcium by the kidney tubules

Decreasing the inflammation and pain caused by joint damage

3.

Which process replaces new bone cells within bone to keep the bone dense?

Group of answer choices

Osteoblastic activity

Osteoclastic activity

Osteoporosis

Bone resorption of calcium

4.

A patient comes into the emergency department with a seizure in progress. You would expect the physician to order which drug for this condition?

Group of answer choices

Celecoxib (Cerebrex)

Clozapine (Clozaril)

Ethotoin (Peganone)

Diazepam (Valium)

5.

How does carbamazepine (Tegretol) work to decrease seizure activity?

Group of answer choices

Increasing the amount of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) present in the brain

Slowing electrical impulse conduction in the brain by altering calcium channels

Slowing electrical impulse conduction in the brain by altering sodium channels

Decreasing the amount of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) present in the brain

Answers 1

A) Reducing motor nerve impulse transmission to the skeletal muscles.

Because Skeletal muscle relaxants are drugs that block the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) by binding to acetylcholine (ACh) receptors located on it. Which lead to paralysis of muscle.

Answers 2

Suppressing the conversion of purines into uric acid crystals.

Because Uric acid synthesis inhibitor aks Allopurinol which action is  decreases uric acid formation and may also inhibit purine synthesis.

Answer 3

Osteoblastic activitie

Osteoblastic activitie responsible for the synthesis and mineralization of bone during both initial bone formation and later bone remodeling. Osteoblasts form a closely packed sheet on the surface of the bone, from which cellular processes extend through the developing bone.

And Osteoclastic activities mean demineralization or brackdown of bone and osteoporosis mean pathological weakness of bone which lead to fracture.

Ethotoin

because it work same as phenytoin.Phenytoin is believed to protect against seizures by causing voltage-dependent block of voltage gated sodium channels. Which decrease the seizure activities in emergency department.

Other drug like diazepam which can also use in seizure but it can cause breathing difficulty so patient have to closely moniter for respiration .

Other two drug are Clozapine is antipsychotic which use is schizophrenia and Celecoxib is cox-2 inhibitor NSAIDs use in pain relief.

C) electrical impulse conduction in the brain by altering sodium channels. Because It binds preferentially to voltage-gated sodium channels in their inactive conformation, which prevents repetitive and sustained firing of an action potential.
