Many adult tissues contain terminally differentiated cells that are incapable of proliferation. How can these tissues repair damage?

Some adult tissues in human body contains terminally differentiated cells that do not have any precursor left for the repair of the tissue in case of any injury like heart cells. These cells . So now the question is how can these tissues repair damage?

Tissue repair in these tissue always leaves permanent evidence of injury such as scar. The heart respond to the injury by scarring, but it is responsible for the decreased cardiac function. Scar tissue is composed of the same type of protein i.e., collagen which crosslinks and forms a pronounced alignment in a single direction.
