Hormone Replacement Therapy ( HRT)

Any of several medical regimens that introduce hormones to the body to replace lost or unavailable ones is called as Hormone Replacement Therapy. Elderly women can use oestrogenic hormone replacement therapy to alleviate post menopausal symptoms.

Hormone Replacement Therapy was started at 1960, then slowly this therapy had gained popularity by 1990 and many women , in menopausal period benefited with the therapy.

Use of Hormone Replacement Therapy for menopausal symptoms has significantly declined in past decade. There were many research studies conducted regarding Hormone Replacement Therapy . Many studies in that time were reported the consequences, such as stroke, breast cancer and endometrial cancers , than the benefits of HRT. Even the media started to reveal the reports of such studies and it's findings. Even the publicity for such reports regarding HRT was widely accepted. Slowly the use of HRT started to decline.

In clinical practice, Later on there were modifications in the dose and form of Hormone contents in HRT and also subsequent studies show that HRT is beneficial with less complications , for menopausal women. But even after the publishing of findings , Public opinion regarding HRT not yet changed.
