A. Assess each muscle group for range of motion

Each muscle group should be examined first by flexing and then opposing the force given.

B. Assess muscle strength and compare to opposite side

Muscle strength comparing to the opposite side,( not only when an abnormality is found), is an important assessment to detect strength and size.

C. Assess each muscle group for strength and equality

It is done with the help of Range of Motion movements.

The presence and location of crepitation is done in patient with arthritis or other abnormalities and normal findings are documented as Grade 5.
