The answer is quite simple. You have been literally provided with every data you just had to put them. You found the correct answer as well. Maybe it is because the v is in smaller case which is why your answer was not taken as correct. Removie the brackets and write it in pure fraction form.

Otherwise there is nothing wrong in your answer.

The theory is that at any instant of position. The time taken by the ball to get to x co-ordinate is same as the time taken by the ball to reach the y co-ordinate. Just equate the times taken from both equations and you will get the parabolic form.
