The Burton Snow Board Manufacturing process is very complex with several manufacturing cells that are also highly dependent on operator technique. Overall, many manufacturing concepts are intuitive, however, such as eliminating waste (such as added handling for one example) essentially anything that does not add value to the product. We will learn more about the science behind these concepts in upcoming chapters. For this discussion board, however, imigine you were taking a tour of their facility and knew nothing about OSM, what would you do to improve this business? Again, we will learn more in future weeks, but you might be surprise when taking this look how many areas you will identify (both good and those needing improvement)

To improve its business, The manufacturing process would require Quality control to make the process more productive and reduce the defects in manufacturing. The business can implement six sigma lean manufacturing to make the production process more effective as well as provide training to operators at manufacturing cells. Lean Six Sigma is a method that relies on a collaborative team effort to improve performance by systematically removing waste and reducing variation. It combines lean manufacturing/lean enterprise and Six Sigma to eliminate the eight kinds of waste (muda): Defects. Over-Production, waiting, motion etc.the implementation of this would help the business become improved and minimize its production cost which every business wants.
