Students in the class represent a broad range in ages. However, it is probable that we will all grow old. From your reading, what is your greatest concern about growing old and what can you do to minimize the negative effects created by that concern?
Answer- My greatest concern about growing old is that I will suffer from various ailments and I will suffer from physical disability and mental weakness .
To minimize the negative effects created by that concern I would do the following-
1) I would eat healthy food which is less oily and less spicy.
2) I would not take stress unnecessarily .
3) I would do physical exercises regularly so that my body remains fit.
4) I would spend more time with my family and friends so as to feel energetic and lively.

Suppose the average age (mean) for students in the class is 21 years. What do we know about the distribution of students' ages for this class (e.g., Are they all about 21 years old?)? Explain. Where does that number (21) come from? Explain.
1. In class we discussed a paper by Meuller and Dweck (1998) looking at the effects of praising intelligence versus effort. What was the main finding of this paper? Imagine that you have recently taken a job as a Math teacher in a 5th grade classroom. You have a range of students but two stand out to you. Both are not doing well. One of them, Hilly seems to be exceling in most of her other subjects but struggling with...
(16.19) A class survey in a large class for first-year college students asked, About how many hours do you study during a typical week? The mean response of the 463 students was x = 15.3 hours. Suppose that we know that the study time follows a Normal distribution with standard deviation σ = 8.5 hours in the population of all first-year students at this university. Step 1: Use the survey result to give a 99% confidence interval for the mean...
A class survey in a large class for first-year college students asked, "About how many minutes do you study on a typical weeknight?" The mean response of the 274 students was x ¯ ¯ ¯ x¯ = 144 minutes. Suppose that we know that the studey time follows a Normal distribution with standard deviation σ σ = 65 minutes in the population of all first-year students at this university. Regard these students as an SRS from the population of all...
Children's height as a function of their age has been researched so extensively that we can consider known results to describe the relationship for all children in the United States. For instance, between the ages of 13 and 15, population mean height for teenage males (in inches) satisfies μy = 22 + 3x, where x is age in years. Spread about the line is 3.1 inches. (a) Notice that the slope of the regression line for the population is β1...
21. Randomized response: Suppose 50 students in a college class participate in a survey in which they each flip a coin and do not reveal the result. If the result is tails, the student is supposed to give an honest answer to the question “Have you ever cheated on an exam in high school or in college?" If the result is heads, the student is supposed to say "yes" to that question, regardless of what the true answer is. Suppose...
A linguistics professor surveys her class to find out which of the following languages are spoken in the homes of her 25 students: English, Spanish, and Cherokee. English is spoken in the homes of all but 1 of the students, and all three languages are spoken in 2 of the homes. Furthermore, 13 students report that Spanish is spoken at home and 5 report that Cherokee is spoken at home. Finally, suppose we know that exactly two languages are spoken...

Making a rectangle class in java write a simple class that will represent a rectangle. Later on, we will see how to do this with graphics, but for now, we will just have to use our imaginations for the visual representations ofWthe rectangles. Instance Variables Recall that an object is constructed using a class as its blueprint. So, think about an rectangle on your monitor screen. To actually draw a rectangle on your monitor screen, we need a number of...
Discussion: Focus Groups Question One: Next week, we will simulate an in-class focus group to attempt to better understand consumer behavior of the target market consisting of college students between the ages of 17 and 25. In order to do so, market researchers must better understand this target market's attitudes, values, interests, perceptions, motivation, and preferences in the marketplace. The client for which our class is conducting this focus group is the management team that oversees the strategic marketing of...
