The structure of industry matters a lot and is one of the major reasons behind the formation of unions in the workforce. The industries which are heavily involved in manufacturing, transport, hardware are prone to the formation of unions. Industries in which the percentage of ground labor operating is higher will have the high chances of formation of the unions because of many reasons, be it the poor wages, poor way of management towards the labor force or inability of providing proper working conditions to the workers.
Industries which are heavily relied on carrying out their operations at ground level by the workforce will have the majority of the unions. Generally, the workforce involving labor, not on payroll will be prone to workers union helping the workers have just working conditions and be of help in case of any discrepancies.Hence, the Industries which are involving a higher percentage of the labor workforce at ground level are susceptible to the formation of unions and their activities.
To avoid union activities, management should be reachable by the union and should provide them with needed working conditions to perform with competitive wage structure which will allow workers to work with motivation. management can also take the deserving people and give them a chance to work in higher positions to which they were earlier working.
