Answer #1

Confidence Interval inference procedure indicates that inference is appropriate.

Hypothesis testing is a procedure of using sample data to draw conclusions about the characteristics of tbhe population. Hypothesis testing limits the user by accpeting or rejecting the hypothesis while a confidence interval also functions as a hypothesis testing and besides provide the additional information on the variabiity of the observed sample statistic and also tells us the accuracy of the sample from where it is drawn. Confidence interval tells us about the range of values thats expected to contain the value of a population parameter with a specified level of confidene.

Suppose that Randy is an analyst for the bicyling industry and wants to estimate the asking price of used entry-level road hikes advertised online in the southeastern part of the United States. He obtains a random sample of 13 online advertisements of entry level road bikes. He determines that the mean price for these 13 hikes is =5681.87 and that the sample standard deviation is s = $177.45. He uses this information to construct a 99% confidence interval for p,...

The STAT 200 course coordinator wants to estimate the proportion of all online STAT 200 students who utilize Penn State Learning’s online tutoring services by either attending a live session or viewing recordings of sessions. In a survey of 80 students during the Fall 2018 semester, 29 had utilized their services. She used bootstrapping methods to construct a 95% confidence interval for the population proportion of [0.263, 0.475]. Use this information to answer the following questions. Suppose that we want to estimate the population average price μ for the grapes per pound. Assume that the price per pound follows the normal distribution. (a). If for a random sample of grape prices obtained from 20 different stores, the sample average price X-bar = $ 1.33 with a sample standard deviation (price) s = $ 0.30 then construct a 95 % confidence interval for μ . (5 points) (b). If the average price obtained from 50 different stores...
