How might the cultural organization of space relate to more general or hidden cultural assumptions about interaction?

This question was included in a project of mine in my Cultural Anthropology class for a project. Said project was to sit and observe behavior, gender, age, dresswear, atmosphere, interactions, ect., between and within both customers and employees. I understand its quite vague question, however I'm just looking for a general interpretation of the question? To be honest, it just literally doesn't really make sense to me.
