I have questions regarding Tools to Explore Domain Information.
. Describe the most common tools used by both malicious and
ethical hackers to conduct footprinting.
2. Describe why ethical hackers explore network information before
carrying out an investigation.
3. Analyze the primary differences between Nslookup and Whois in
assessing domain information.
4. Explain how an ethical hacker uses the information derived by
use of Nslookup and Whois to mitigate network connectivity
issues.
I appreciate any help on these.
Answer)
1) Some of the common tools being used for footprinting is as follows:
Nmap, which acts as a network mapper metasploit. Burp suite and Angry IP Scanner are few more of it which can help in footprinting
2) The ethical hackers need to evaluate the security and also identify the vulnerabilities of any of the systems because that would help them to check the network they are connected via the internet that would help them to get the online services with respect to the penetration testing done by ethical hackers.
3) nslookup is used for checking the DNS server that would help to get the IP address for any of the IP names that are specified. This also helps to reverse the lookup that would get returned from among the DNS server
whois helps to check the domain registration that would check the IP address and here the domain aren't registered and implemented.
