Answer #1

Internal motivation is an inherent behavior of a person to perform in life. It emerges due to an interest developed in a specific person. There are no specific rewards required to be implemented for the development of an intrinsic behavior. The specific example is of schools which hold significance when discussing the internal motivated behavior. The factors influencing the internal behavior are like intrinsic, excitement, confidence, enhanced performance, and self-esteem and well being in the society. Extrinsic reward behavior may have a negative impact on the internal motivations on the life of people in society. Extrinsic motivators decrease the amount of internal motivation prevalent in the life of a person living in the society. There is prevalence of academic learning in some students because of intrinsic motivation. One of the important theories of internal motivation is the self-determination theory given by Edward Deci and Richard Ryan. There are intrinsic needs in a person like feeling of competency, related feeling and autonomous feeling in life. The problems faced during the process of achieving intrinsic motivation is the availability of extrinsic rewards and how it affects the development of motivation in specific people. There is pervasive use of extrinsic rewards leading to fulfilling of internal motivations in life. In a statistical study by Deci in 1972, 1974 the amount of intrinsic motivation decreased as the number of extrinsic rewards increased during the organization of certain events in schools and colleges like quiz. The task was unrelated to the performance and skill of the students and only dependent amount on the amount of participation. The participants were payed money and there was no intrinsic motivation in the students. The more the participation, the more the incentives and cash money provided for the rewards. According to Lepper et al in 1973, the more the verbal praise the more was the amount of intrinsic motivation in life. It was prevalent in males with intrinsic motivation and was not prevalent among females. The amount of negative feedback decreased the amount of intrinsic motivation among students according to Deci, Cascio and Krusell in 1973. According to the study of Ryan, Mims and Koestner in 1983 the students participation was divided into three groups like information oriented performance contingent, control oriented performance contingent and task contingent. The three categories for defining the experimental variables were performance standard with no reward and informational feedback, performance standard, no reward and controlling feedback and no reward and no feedback in life. There can be situations where a student can feel pressurized with discomfort due to the presence of peer, parents or teacher with rewards but there is no intrinsic motivation or desire in the student to perform in such activity can lead to negative attributions in such a specific student. These are the problems which are faced by a person during the understanding of internal motivation of a student present in a class in school or a college.
