Can someone explain the GCMS of this sample?
This was the procedure:
A solution of acetophenone, 20 mmoles, and metha-chloroperbenzoic acid (mCPBA)
36mmoles, are stirred in 50mL of distilled water at 80°C for 4 h and monitored by
TLC (eluent: ethyl acetate). The reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature and
extracted with dichloromethane (3x30mL). The combined organic layers are
washed with saturated NaHCO3, and NaCl brine solution. The solution is then dried
with MgSO4 and the solvent removed under reduced pressure. Column
chromatography using silica gel (36.05 g) and ethyl acetate as eluent may be
performed to remove starting material acetophenone if present and instructor
recommends it. The collected fractions containing the desired product as verified by
TLC are combined and the solvent removed under reduced pressure. The phenyl
acetate is weighted and characterized.

GCMS Data: Briefly discuss how the GC-MS supports the identity of the product. In your discussion of the GC-MS data, include: a) the molecular ion M* and its corresponding m/z value from the spectrum; b) the base peak (i.e. the peak with highest abundance) and its corresponding m/z. Explain how the GC-MS data allow you to tell whether the reaction was successful or not. In your discussion, include things such as (but not limited to): presence of any major impurities,...
Can somone show me how to do the 1st problem? Need to find the LS and SS for the fit and the LH and SH for the hole. Fits are all SHAFT BASIS METRIC but the shaft and hole diameters can not be used right out of the table. This is because the 3mm shaft tolerance does not match. You will need to lookup the "Fit" from the table, and then use the LS (Largest Shaft) and SS (Smallest Shaft)...
can you pls help me identifiy the correct unknown ans explain why this is the know for the unknown its not 2phenylethanol. halogens is absent, differntiate is absent , nitrogen test is absent, sulfure is absent, Br2 is absent, kmno4 absent, ignition test absent . 2,3 dnp contains ketone ,tollens no aldehdye absent aldehyde , iodoform test contains carbonyl in it . Melting point of solid ("C) (leave blank if liquid at RT): 57 degrees Celsius Boiling point of liquid...
