Team building refers to the members of team undertaking various activities to motivate and increase team performance. For team to perform as expected motivation is required which is provided through the team building activities such as picnics, role plays, celebrating birthday, anniversary of the team members etc. In such activities team members come together and work towards achieving the common goals.

Types of Team Building Interventions are as follows :

a. Activity Based Team Building Intervention : These are conducted in outdoor environment, where the team members are encouraged to participate in physical challenges such as adventure activities. Such team building intervention helps to resolve the team conflicts, builds trust within team members and focuses upon teamwork. It also helps to create a new relationship between the team members which is necessary for effectively work together within the organization.

b. Skills Based Team Building Intervention : This type of intervention focus upon activities combined with training, where the skills of team members are developed. These can be leadership skills, communication skills, team meeting etc, where the members of team gets opportunity to learn and participate in various activities.

c. Personality Based Team Building Intervention : It uses psychometric questionnaires such as DISC assessment, Insight team dynamics etc, where the interpersonal skills of the team members are developed. It helps the team members to accept their own as well as their teammates personality while working effectively together. Creating understanding and developing interpersonal skills helps to appreciate other's work.

d. Problem Solving Based Team Building Intervention : These are done indoor or some times during the offsite events, so that the underlying issues can be solved with the help of the facilitator. The challenges and the possible solutions can be identified by the team members while not trying to impact the teams ongoing work.
