There was an article in Time magazine with title "One in three seniors is lonely: Here's how it's hurting their health". It means that one third of the senior citizens are spending a lonely life. This loneliness impacts their mental health.

It also affect their memory. Overall it causes reduction in their life expectancy. This loneliness causes them to smoke more. They start consuming more alcohol. This causes increased chances of chronic illness.

Various diseases like heart disease may also occur due to increase in weight during sedentary life style. They lead a life in isolation because of their busy schedule. Sometime they are forced to live a lonely life due to missing partner.

All these causes feeling of depression. This depression causes them to talk less. This lesser talking increases burden of thoughts. Various negative thoughts may cover the whole mind. People in old age try to avoid social gatherings because of their own family members also.

Their family members may ignore them in their old age. This fact cause a teasing effect. All these inspires them to lead a life in isolation. This also causes severe health problem to them.
