The scales or yardstick used for measuring the job differences and worth in point factor job evaluation method as below:

  • Job key factor identification: The point factor job evaluates process first identifies the factors that can differentiate the jobs in the organization. Like skill, efforts, responsibility, working condition etc.
  • Scale for these key factors: At this step, the scaling factor is used like 1 to 5 or 1to 10 rating is used for making the scores for each factor for the job.
  • Weight for these key factors: At this stage, the weight is assigned to each factor based on their importance in the business so that it evaluates the right impact of the factor in job evaluation.  
  • Job Ratings is calculated based on the individual scores and weight impact by multiplying the individual scores with individual weight and totaling out to see the job rating between the jobs.
  • Grading is carried out for each job based on the rating resulted for each job. Te grading is used for the revised pay and compensation for the jobs and individuals.
