Answer #1

2 C6H14 + 19 O2 = 12 CO2 + 14 H2O

Mole of hexane = 65.5 g /86 g/mol = 0.761 mol.

Mole of oxygen = 65 g / 32 g /mol = 2.03 mol.

For 19 mole Oxygen - - - - - 2 mole hexane

For 2.03 mole Oxygen - - - - - 0.214 mol hexane.

Excess hexane left = ( 0.761 - 0.214) = 0.547 mole

Mass of hexane leftover = mole × Molar mass

Mass = 0.547 mole × 86 g/mole = 47. 04 g
