Answer #1

1] Let x be the position of the object and v be the constant velocity of the object. Then, the position is given by:

x = vt

2] Here, the acceleration a is constant and the velocity increases with time. The position x will be given by:

x = ut + (1/2)at2

where u is the initial velocity at t = 0.

3] a]

Initial velocity of a person = u = 0 m/s

a = 2 m/s2

so, x = 0t + (1/2)(2)t2 = t2

therefore, the graph of position vs time for this person will be an upward parabola centered at t = 0.

The person's velocity will be given by: v = u + at = 0 + 2t = 2t

since the initial velocity is u = 0 m/s, the graph of velocity vs time for this person will be a straight line passing through the origin. The slope of the graph will be: m = 2.

b] Here,

x = - t2

so, the graph of position vs time will be a downward parabola centered at t = 0.

The velocity vs time graph will be a straight line passing through the origin (similar to [a]) but with the difference that this graph will be in 4th quadrant since the velocity is becoming negative.
