Answer #1

For the first question, the data set needs to be provided separately to answer the question.

2) Let X be a random variable which denotes the number of peas with green pods.

This problem can be solved using Binomial distribution where

n = 14, p = 0.75

(a) The value of the mean is \mu = np = 10.5

The value of the standard deviation is \sigma = \sqrt{np(1 - p)} = 1.62

(b) Significantly low values are values less than \mu - 2\sigma = 7.26 and

Significantly high values are values less than \mu + 2\sigma = 13.74

Values of 7.3 peas or fewer are significantly low

Values of 13.7 peas or greater are significantly high

3) Probability to select correct three numbers between 1 and 36 = 1/36C3 = 1/7140

Probability to select correct single number between 1 and 43 = 1/43

The probability of winning the jackpot = 1/7140 *(1/43)

= 1/307020
