Question

three phase electric sircuits problem

image.png

In the circuit in the picture, the loads (L) of the lights (lamps) are balanced. Each lamp (L) is set at 500 W and 120 V. Constant resistance (i.e. lamps) only draws the specified current. The three-phase motor is at 5 ?? and 0.8 reverse power factor.

The secondary side of the transformer (bottom of the network) provides voltage between 208 V balanced phases (ll-line line). The motor is 1500 meters from the side (length from the secondary side).

The resistance and reactance values of the line are 0.403 ohms and 0.143 ohms, respectively, for 1000 meters. In this case

a) Calculate the voltage-free phase of the motor.

b) Calculate the phase-to-phase voltage of the motor.

A.) A local business wants to connect to the 208V three phase supply provided by the utility. The business has several different loads to connect, 208V ovens and 120V lights. Using the three phase transformer bank available in the lab (shown below), design a connection that will allow the business to supply these loads. On the secondary side, only terminals 3 & 5, 8 & 10, and 13 & 15 may be used, i.e. do not use terminal 4, 9,...
