Lysozyme = Muramidase = N-acetylmuramide glycanhydrolase
It is an antimicrobial enzyme produced by animals as a part of their innate immune response.
It catalyzes the hydrolysis of β-1,4-linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in peptidoglycan (Cell wall component of bacteria).
Lysozyme is active in a broad pH range (6 to 9).
The isoelectric point of Lysozyme = 11.35 (Greater than 6)
