All the system present in the resident network will have modems connected and the systems are connected using hubs and the hub is then connected to a router in order to create a connection with the internet.

Coming to the wide area packet switched network all the circular figures are routers of different ISPs.

Inside the datacenters network the database server rack are connected internally with a Switch and the switch is then connected with a router for routing purpose.

Within the organisation network, all the devices are connected using the wireless access points(WAPs) fitted with a router for internet connectivity.

Similarly, for public switched telephone network, they should established satellite receiver and then the signal os being transferred to the residential telephone lines.

The wide area wireless network will use the wireless access point fitted in the wireless router and then the data is transmitted using the wide area base station.

Coming to the university campus network, all the devices are connected to a switch and even for wireless connectivity it uses WAP connected to the router to connect to the internet.
