Hi, can I get some help with my discussion on A&P2, please? There is quite a bit of fluid movement among body compartments. Is this something you would have expected, before reading this chapter? Why or why not? Is there an advantage to this fluid movement?

Answer #1

Fluid movement among the body compartments will occur due to hydrostatic pressure, which is the force exerted by fluid against wall. This pressure forces plasma and nutrients from capillaries into surrounding tissues.

As the hydrostatic pressure increases, the amount of water leaving capillaries also increases and if the hydrostatic pressure drops it causes dehydration which causes impaired functioning of kidneys. So, the fluid movement between the body compartments is advantageous to our body functioning.

Thank you!
