Answer #1

The ‘war on terror’ was a multidimensional campaign of more or less limitless scope. Its military dimension incorporated major wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, undercover operations in Yemen etc., large-scale military-aid programs for cooperative regimes, & major escalation in military expenses. Its intelligence facet incorporated significant raise in the funding of U.S’s intelligence-gathering abilities, institutional restructuring, a worldwide program of seizing terrorist suspects & imprisoning them at Guantánamo Bay, enlarged cooperation with international intelligence agencies, and the tracing & interception of terrorist funding. Its diplomatic dimension incorporated continuing endeavors to build & maintain a worldwide coalition of partner states and a massive public diplomacy crusade to thwart anti-Americanism in the Middle East. The domestic dimension entailed new antiterrorism legal code, like the PATRIOT Act; new security establishments, like the Department of Homeland Security; the preventative detainment of several suspects; surveillance & intelligence-collecting program by NSA; the fortifying of emergency-response mechanisms; and augmented security measures for airports, public events & borders.

The successes of the first few years of the ‘war on terror’ included the arrest of several terrorist suspects across the world.

But, opponents claimed that the attacks in Iraq & Afghanistan had escalated anti-Americanism amongst the world’s Muslims, thus intensifying the message of militant Islam & bonding disparate clusters in a common cause
