The relation between arbuscular mycorrizae and plant root have symbiotic mutualism. Which means both fungi and plant benifited from each other. Where fungi fix inorganic nutrients like phosphate , sulphate and these are taken by plants. Organic nutrients are given by plants to fungi.

As AMF are obligate symbionts, they cannot grow away from thei host plant.
