What was the purpose of adding water to the sample of vinegar used for the titration?


 What was the purpose of adding water to the sample of vinegar used for the titration? The added volume was not considered in the calculations. Why was it ignored?

The titration experiment is done to determine the molarity of the unknown solution. The vinegar has acetic acid in it , so water is added into it to make it dilute , though the number of moles in the acid solution remains same . This aids in the proper titration and accurate results as the determination of end point of the titration becomes easier.

This added volume due to addition of water is not considered in the calculations since we are concerned about the number of moles of acid in the solution , which does not change with addition of water.
